Description
After a long silence, I submit something. I plan on submitting more often, never meant to go on hiatus at all, but I'll explain about that later.
This was something that was inspired my multiple things...the first was when I last went camping back in 2010. Every year, the other family that comes with us brings mystical fire powder(?) to entertain the kids during marshmallow roasting. The kids, aged between 6 months and 12 years, are entertained for a grand total of 35 seconds, maybe a minute if the adults are lucky. I, on the other hand, sat there with a blueberry cooler, staring at the colors for who knows how long. I'm easily entertained, no going to lie.
Another factor was that I like colors in general, for those who have seen the apartment, there's a lot of beads, posters, fish tanks (dismantled at the moment, ) and blacklight posters here. Just a bit of background.
The final inspiration came about two months ago, which was when I started drawing this, was when browsing DA and seeing different varieties of the phoenix (fire, ice, etc) and thinking back to the fire, thought why not? Its a fire, just with a powder.
The majority of this is improvised; the bird was drawn, and I only had a clear idea of how I wanted the feathers on the tip of the wings to look, everything else just followed suit, though I did have second doubts about some colors, but hey, the fun of experimenting.
The only thing that bugs me is the fire behind the bird's head; the bird was colored first, didn't really think about that till I was coloring in the fire...didn't change it digitally, I'm sure there's a way to do it traditionally. If you guys want to suggest anything for fixing that, I'd appreciate it. The only thing I can think of is white out or paint and I see that making more of a mess. I'll have to remember to look out for that next time.
Sorry for the long description, critiques are welcome.
